Chapter 52
After Maxine and Maureen’s conversation, everything was chaotic at Stanley’s house. They hadn’t slept yet because they were waiting for updates regarding the children, and no one knew where Maureen had taken the two.
Maxine couldn’t do anything but cry and continued to pray for the children’s safety.
“No, Max. I will not allow you to meet Maureen alone,” Stanley argued with Maxine.
“But Stanley, it’s what she wants, and there is nothing we can do but follow,” Maxine bravely remarked. “Perhaps something horrible will happen to our children if we don’t follow her,” she added.
“No, you won’t go there. We never know what might happen. We don’t know what Maureen’s plan is, and I can’t let you put yourself in a situation where you will be hurt,” Stanley worriedly said as he hugged his wife.
While the couple was hugging, the policeman interjected, saying, “You don’t have to worry, sir. We will do everything just to keep your family safe.”
