Chloe’s POV

The room went dead silent.

Margaret’s accusation hung in the air like poison, thick and suffocating. Jack’s eyes lit up instantly, like he had been waiting for that moment. My chest rose sharply, anger and fear crashing into each other.

Drake stiffened beside me.

“This is not the time for baseless accusations,” he said, his voice controlled but strained.

“Oh, spare me,” Margaret snapped. “Look at how she stands. Look at how she clings to you. Do you think I am blind?”

I stepped forward before Drake could stop me. My hands were shaking, but my voice was steady. “You don’t get to judge me. Not after what you’ve done.”

Jack laughed. “Hear her. Acting innocent.”

“I am innocent,” I shot back. “And deep down, you both know it.”

Margaret’s eyes burned. “You came into my family and brought chaos.”
