Chapter 2
“I’m going to go get some coffee. Ya’ll want anything?” she said pushing to her feet. The tension in the small waiting room was explosive and she knew that just one little spark would cause everything to explode.
“I’m good,” Zane said. She didn’t miss the uncomfortable look on his handsome face as he shifted in his seat and then shifted again. Odd.
“Same here,” Cole said as he scrolled idly through his phone.
She turned and looked at her brother, but he only shook his head. With a nod, she made her way out of the room in search of the vending machines. Once out of sight, she leaned heavily against the wall and sagged to the floor. Confusion ran rampant through her body as she tried to sift through everything that had happened over the past four days.
Her father and his condition as well as his odd display of kindness. Peyton and his strong sense of brotherly duties in protecting her virtue. It was times like this she wished her mother were still around
