Rock Hard. Book 4. Chapter 1
“Say something,” Zane urged softly.
Dallas didn’t know what to say. Her heart was frozen in her chest and, despite the hot July air, chills covered her skin. The three of them still lay in a tangle of limbs in the back of her truck, their sleeping bags making it oddly comfortable. Overhead the stars began to wink to life, glittering against the deep velvet sky.
The sunset had given way to complete darkness and now, the only things around them were the sounds of night. Whippoorwills sounded off in the distance, searching for their mates. Crickets chirped and frogs peeped, but she paid no attention to any of it. The only thing she was aware of was the warmth of Cole and Zane’s skin as they lay on their sides, legs draped over her own. In the darkness she could see their heads were propped up on their hands, and though she couldn’t see them looking at her, she could feel their gazes searching for her.
“I—I don’t know what to say,” she finally said, finding her voice.<
