I freeze as my mate suddenly shoves between me and the Moonstone’s heir. She’s tiny between us, and my wolf howls at the idea that I almost attacked her instead.

“You’re both still injured,” she says, pulling me away from him and the bed. “Stop. Please. You both need to heal so we can make it back to NGU as soon as possible.”

“We can’t stay here for the night?” Iris asks.

“We’re going to have to. But in the morning, we need to leave. Before my family sends more enforcers after us.”
