Over the next day and a half, Koen works on getting in contact with his father in order to negotiate letting us stay with Moonstone and offers us protection while we figure out how to deal with my father—no, Cyrus.
In the back of my mind, I won’t be surprised if Izan ends up turning us away. His only obligation is to his son and no one else. With the answers on how to hopefully keep Koen alive, there’s no need for any of them to get involved in a war they were never prepared to fight in the first place.
Moonstone is a peaceful town from those few hours we spent there. I can’t imagine blood staining the beautiful, pure white snow covering their homelands.
Outside of that, Liam and I still aren’t at 100%.
We’re better, there’s no doubt about that, but underneath the surface, something lingers—a hesitation from him I can’t quite put my finger on, no matter how deeply I obsess over it.
Tension has kept us from talking, really<
