Chapter 69. Disagreements

“There you guys are,” Iris says the moment we step back into Koen’s home.
The wind sweeps up behind us, kicking in a soft dusting of snow right before I get the door closed and locked. Koen kicks his shoes and shrugs his coat off before hooking it up, stepping back just enough for me to do the same.
My nose catches a faint whiff of something cooking—a little quirk Iris has gotten into the habit of since coming here. It seems to be the only way she’s able to unwind, though a lot of what she makes is… up for debate on whether or not it’s edible.
Weirdly though, Koen’s never shy to at least try and scarf it down before his cheeks grow green. Why he’s suddenly taken up being polite, I still have no clue. Though, I doubt I’ll ever understand.
As we follow her into the kitchen, she asks, “So, what happened?”
“Lot of bullshit.” Koen takes up a spot on one of the stools seated at the small island.
