Toby jogged away from the other two because he felt incredibly awkward. Had Sam just come home from fucking Amanda? What was his reaction to that supposed to be? His gut instinct was sadness and a sense of betrayal, but they were just friends. They’d made no promises to each other after the heat had passed, and it had been a couple of months since he’d slept with Sam anyway. Of course, he couldn’t be possessive if what they had done had been that casual. They didn’t even have a set date for another heat. So why did he feel so bad about it? He should be congratulating his alpha friend.
He stretched his legs as he waited for the traffic lights, then crossed the road and slowed down to a walk so that he could think for a while as he returned to the dorms.
