Chapter 19
The next four days, I did not see Nocturne as often. She locked herself in her office and hardly left as she prepared her battle plan. By the end of the fourth day, I was missing her greatly. I sat, quite sullen, at the dining room table. The meal before me was unbelievably delicious, but it did nothing to dampen my depressed mood.
“What is the matter, Lord Albert?” Andrew asked when he noticed me playing with my food like a spoiled child who did not get what he wanted to eat.
“I miss Lady Nocturne.” I sighed as I stopped playing with my food and forced myself to eat.
“Ah, so it is not the food. That is relieving.” Andrew cleared his throat. “I am sorry that you feel so sullen due to the lady’s absence. I am sure she will shower you with attention once she has completed her task.”
“Has she heard from the king yet?”
“He sent a letter today, my lord.”
“Finally. Maybe she will be done tonight.” I exclaimed in excitement. Andrew sighed.
