Chapter 23

My servants dressed me in a simple suit. It consisted of a suit jacket and pants that were dark blue, with a gray vest and black button-up shirt. My hair was styled into a lazily slicked back look. I sighed as I looked over myself in the mirror. I did not recognize myself. I no longer looked like the mage that stayed hidden in the background of the palace walls. Instead, I looked like a young lord from a distinguished family who was cursed with inhuman looks.

“My lord, I am sure that I do not have to tell you to remember you are engaged.” Andrew commented as he escorted me to the front doors of the estate.

“I have no interest in anyone other than Nocturne.” I scoffed.

“Good. I expect you to say that to any of the young ladies who are stupid enough to approach you.” He nodded in approval. I rolled my eyes.

“I doubt anyone would do such a thing. I look like a freak after all.” I shrugged. Andrew gave me an annoyed look.
