Chapter 34

The next morning was relatively uneventful. Nocturne and I got ready for the day in my room, the servants doing their usual tasks for both of us before Sofia and Andrew escorted us to the dining room.

 “My lady, Countess Golda sent word this morning that she would like to stop by with the young count-to-be today.” Sofia said as we made our way along the corridor.

 “Invite her for afternoon tea then.” Nocturne instructed.

 “As you wish, my lady.” Sofia nodded as we made our way down the corridor. I noticed Jenna was hanging around off to the side. She was obviously trying to spy on us. I looked at Nocturne who nodded at me.

 “Do so now, Sofia. Have that maid over there replace you for the time being.” I commanded as I pointed at Jenna. She stiffened when I pointed at her. Sofia made a face that showed she did not agree but did not protest.
