Chapter 20
The following morning, Maestro was nowhere in sight on the large bed, much to her relief, so she curled up on the bed with swollen eyes and ran her tongue over parched lips.
She hadn't had as much as a blink of sleep, all thanks to the nightmares about dead bodies and guns pointed at her.
She trembled so much that she thought she had caught a fever.
She wondered if Sir Derinem had granted her request; it was apparent Maestro had gone to see him that morning, and he was also dressed to go out.
Second-guessing that Maestro wouldn't be around, It turned out that she was right.
But now, she only wanted to know if her request had reached Sir Derinem. She wore a simple, white cotton gown, appreciating the coverage after feeling almost naked the night before. She wore her flip-flops and wadded out of the room.
The smell of food hit her nose like it always did, and this time, instead of whetting her appetite, she wanted to throw up.
