Chapter 26. The Trap

Adam opens the door for Mariah, and extends his hand for her to hold it. Mariah gently takes his hand and gets out of the car. Their eyes glittering behind the mask, both of them smiling ear to ear.

Adam kissed Mariah’s hand and the scent of her skin was enough to drive him crazy. They forgot for a moment what they were here for and just then Adam heard Pete’s voice in his earpiece.

“Boss, they’ve opened the gates. You need to be very careful, don’t let them discover your earpiece or you’ll get into trouble even before you’re inside.”

And at that moment Adam wanted all this to be real, he wanted it be a normal ball where he didn’t have to worry about someone getting hurt or worse killed. Mariah understood Adam’s expression, she knew what he was thinking just by looking at him because she was also thinking the same.
