Chapter 33. Autonomy

Mariah was getting better each passing day, Adam made sure of it. He wanted her to just think of all the happy things and forget about everything that had happened but it still worried Adam since Sophia told him that Mariah needed to accept everything in order to heal completely. Adam didn’t know what he needed to do for Mariah to heal the deep scars that he had left on her.

He wanted Mariah to confront his abuser in order to get a closure but then it would trigger the trauma she suffered because of him. Adam was in dilemma but it wasn’t his decision to make, Mariah had to decide if she wanted to try and forget about everything and suppress her memories from her past or she wanted to face the man she feared the most and who could trigger her trauma.

Adam took Mariah for a walk outside for her to get some fresh air.

“Adam!” Mariah turned towards him.

“Hmm?”

“I want to see him,” Mariah said in a low but audible voice.

“But Mariah, you’re not—”
