Chapter 43
“Yeah, I better. I’ll bring back something for you if I can.” He said before leaving like the others.
Cain watched her quietly still as she picked up a drill, crouching near one of the lower panels, focusing a little too hard on something that didn’t need that much attention.
She heard him move, his boots making quiet noise against the wood on the floor, slow and unhurried. She could hear the footsteps get closer and closer to where she crouched but didn’t look up.
She could feel him behind her. Not touching. Not speaking. Just there, watching her more closely. Her grip on the drill tightened slightly.
‘Say something to me at least if you’re sorry,’ She thought to herself.
He didn’t. The silence stretched longer and her patience finally snapped. She straightened up, turning just enough to look at him over her shoulder.
“Don’t you have something to say?” She asked.
He didn’t hesitate. “I don’t.”
She couldn’t believe his cavalier attitud
