Chapter 96
Cain woke before sunrise. He didn’t move for a few seconds after he woke up. He just laid there watching Liana sleep against his arm, her hair spread across his arm and pillow, her breathing slow and peaceful in a way he hadn’t seen since all of this started.
The room was dim and quiet except for the faint hum of the fan overhead. He brushed some hair away from her face before withdrawing his arm from beneath her carefully so he wouldn’t wake her, then he lowered his head and pressed a soft kiss against her temple.
Liana stirred slightly but didn’t wake. Cain smiled faintly to himself before slipping out from under the blanket.
He pulled on a pair of sweatpants and stepped out quietly, shutting the door halfway behind him.
The clubhouse was still mostly asleep. The early morning air carried the cold and silence that only existed before everybody woke up to start making noise again. Cain walked toward the corner that served as the kitchen and grabbed the coffe
