Chapter 20. Confronting Adulthood
We finally got home. I told my driver goodnight and walked into the house.
“Good evening,” I greeted my parents who stopped talking the moment I walked into the house.
Dad nodded in acknowledgment while Mom asked how my day went.
“It was good, finally got clothes without your help,” I said and showed her the bags of clothes I was holding.
“I went shopping today,” Mom said.
“Oh! You went shopping too?” I asked her, pretending to be curious like I didn’t see her in the mall. “Why did you go shopping? No bad people to put in prison?” I asked Mom.
“Your dad can put them in prison for me,” she said and giggled. “Do you want to see what I got you?” she asked leading us to her room.
“You are already walking aren’t you?” I joked while trailing her.
She turned to look at me, stared at me for a while, and continued towards her room.
She pulled the door open and I followed behind her. She closed the door and I sat on her bed.
