Chapter 38
ETHAN
I pushed open the front door with a heavy sigh, today had been a tough one, the meetings kept dragging, and it’s been tiring. The familiar sights of the living room greeted me, the glow of the television casting a warm presence over Olivia’s sleeping figure that lay sound asleep on the couch.
I quietly made my way towards her, settled down beside her, and watched her sleep. As she stirred, her eyes fluttered open, meeting mine with a gentle smile.
“What time did you get in?” she asked, her voice a soft murmur.
“Just now,” I replied, my gaze lingering on her before I stood up to head upstairs.
“Ethan,” her voice halted me in my tracks, and I turned slowly to meet her gaze as she leaped up from the couch, I was taken aback as she darted towards me, enveloping me in an unexpected hug. At first, I stiffened, caught off guard by the sudden embrace. But her warmth and genuine concern seeped through, and I found myself reciprocating, holding her close.
