Chapter 31. The Silent Observer (2)
The mansion was quiet. Almost too quiet.
Of course, there were staff, but they never really lingered in places where their master usually frequented. Mikhail could just call out for them even in a low voice, and they would immediately appear by his side.
Vampire senses, Cassy scoffed.
Ethan, on the other hand, stayed true to his word. He moved like a shadow in the background, sticking to the corners of the rooms and never once inserting himself into any of their conversations. His presence was like a ghost haunting the place — silent and ever-present, but never directly acknowledged.
Mikhail moved about his day as though Ethan wasn’t even there, mainting his air of indifference.
However, Cassy was highly sensitive to the new presence. Due to her internal paranoia, she had to make a conscious effort not to look over her shoulder every time she sensed Ethan watching them.
Watching her.
