Chapter 49. A Collar for Drew
VENUS
It was Drew, his tongue hanging out of his mouth as he panted heavily. His eyes twinkled with joy to see me but the hand in his collar kept him from running to me. The guard who had saved me from Wren and ravished me in the library held him down, his turban hiding his facial expression.
I hesitated for a wee second before running to meet my dog. Drew barked again, struggling with the restriction placed on him. I went on a knee and buried my face in his fur. He didn't look or smell dirty unlike when I had found him in the underground dungeon.
"Some maids were ordered to give him a bath," the guard explained without any prodding from me. At last, get eased his hold on Drew and the old dog pounced on me in excitement. I was on my back, laughing and crying at the same time and he licked my face happily, almost stomping all over me.
