Chapter 48. Confrontation

Venus POV

My stomach growled, reminding me that I had missed my dinner from the previous night. It had woken up before me and was making its complaint known as loudly as possible. I had heard Matilda knocking last night, but I was unsure of how to face her. At last, she moved on, and I drifted off to sleep.

“I will get us some food. Now be quiet!” I ordered my stomach and stupidly waited for it to reply. Bly would have said something, but she was long gone. There was no way I was finding my second-chance mate when I was cooped up in the Paradise Palace.

Worse still, I had another free day to do nothing with. Matilda had texted me early in the morning, relieving me of all my duties. I was to eat and rest, as ordered by the Alpha King. If he thought giving me days off was a means of apology, he was a sorry bastard.
