Chapter 62. Some Distance

Returning to my room, I ran into Mars who fell in step with me. Apparently, he had been looking for me.
"Why didn't you just call me on my cell?" I reprimanded him, unlocking my door.
He sighed, throwing up his hands. "I didn't think of that. I assumed you would be in your room getting ready. Did your laundry arrive? I sent it through Matilda."
It did and I told him so. The bag containing the clothes was still untouched in my closet. In it was my late father's suit, the one I had chosen to wear for the festival.
I had other choices but I felt at peace with his memory whenever I had it on. Sometimes, I sensed him around me when I was alone and I hoped that wherever he was, he was proud of me.
"Did you come looking for me because of laundry?" I stripped out of my morning clothes and put on my robe. I stood before my mirror as Mars scrambled about to get my clothes.
