Chapter 47. Down the Tunnels
“You didn’t do anything wrong, sweetheart,” Amelia reached in and wiped the tear away, “Just give him time. Whatever it is, I’m sure he’ll tell you when he’s ready. Both of you will sort things out,”
“What if I lose him before then?” Rhiannon questioned, recalling the dark look she had seen in his eyes, which only got darker.
Her body shook heavily, and she burst into tears once again, burying her face in her palms. The weight of everything crashed over her once again, and her heart bled and ached.
Amelia helped her into bed and covered her with the sheets. “You need rest, Rhiannon,” She said. “Try and get some sleep. Let your body heal,”
Rhiannon didn’t answer. She simply turned and lay on her good hand, staring at the dark wall next to her. She heard Amelia turn off the light, and then the door to the room softly closed.
She was alone.
