Chapter 56. Why?!

Everyone, as if on cue, they all skidded to a halt as the air was suddenly filled with a dense, heavy aura, seeping from within the greenhouse. They had stopped just behind a broken column in what used to be a small library which was now nothing but stone and cinders.

Rhiannon slid off Amelia’s back, her eyes locked on the greenhouse which was just steps away, stumbling as she went.

“Where are you going?!” Amelia reached out to grab her patient, “Didn’t you hear that noise?”

Rhiannon whirled around to look at Amelia, the cloak falling down her face. Her eyes were red from tears and fear, trembling from desperation, “I didn’t come this far just to be stopped by some noise! I’m going!”

Rhiannon pulled herself forward by instinct alone. With every step she took, she felt something dark surging from the greenhouse.
