I fixed my eyes on the ceiling, watching intently (as though something fascinating was going in there) to distract myself. Lorenzo squeezed my left palm as a sign of support as the wand glided over my stomach.
The female doctor hung a stethoscope around and her neck, adjusting her glasses on the bridge of her nose every now and then. She chuckled and patted my arm. "You should relax, it's going to be alright. I understand that it's your first time."
I took in a deep breath.
"Everything is fine. The foetus is in a good state," she clicked a few buttons on the ultrasound machine.
