It was the first time I was spending Christmas with someone apart from my mom, best friend and sister, and also, forgot to wish them a happy Christmas the moment I woke up.
"Merry Christmas! Baby sister." I squealed into the phone, and I'm sure Tella must have shuddered on her end.
She giggled before she spoke, "Same to you, I was wondering why you didn't pick my call at first and so I called Amy. She said you weren't at home."
"The phone wasn't within my reach," I answered, "have you heard from mom?"
"She called me this morning, she's fine but still call her."
"Ofcourse I will," I paused, "So what do you want for Christmas?" It was a Christmas ritual for me to make her wish come to pass each year.
"A new phone," she answered without hesitation, and I frowned.
"Why didn't tell me about it before now?" So if I didn't ask, she wouldn't have told me that she needed a new phone.
