Chapter 226

Mrs. Beth's POV 

My heart was pounding with fear as I sat in the dimly lit camp looking at Austin who is the dear child entrusted to my care. He is shaking with fear and I don’t know how to comfort him. I am trying my best to be strong for him but it’s getting harder by the minute. 

The people who have captured us show no mercy and their faces are shrouded in darkness. They are using Austin against us but I don’t know what they want or even who they are. I have tried asking them but they just laugh disdainfully telling me to be quiet. I put my arms around Austin wanting to protect him from evil forces surrounding us. 

“Don’t worry dear one,” I whisper “we’ll make it through this; we will find a way out.” However, even those words sound hollow to me. I am not sure how we’ll escape or what will happen if we don’t. When I look at Austin and see fear in his eyes, it shatters my heart into pieces. He is just a little boy who is innocent and pure. This sho
