Chapter 41

"But why? What's wrong?" Dad asked.

"Nothing Dad, I didn't make dinner for Joseph and I don't want him getting mad at me," I said to him,

He nodded and I waited for Catherine to bring the package of food.

Catherine came back to the big box of food. It was just enough for two.

"Here you go, miss." She said as she handed the box of food to Felicity.

"Dad, I'll be on my way. I'll call you when I get home. We could do better." I said, hurrying to the door to get a cab not waiting for a response from Dad. 

I know he would question me when I finally called him later in the night. I prayed silently in my mind that Joseph wasn't home yet.

Just as the car came to a stop at the front of the gate, I received a call. Talk of the devil. It was Joseph.

My heart skipped as the box of food nearly fell out of my hand.

"Are you okay, Miss?" The cab driver asked.
