I felt my eyes flutter in discomfort as I groggily attempted to pry them open using sheer willpower alone. The sharp light streaming in through the bedroom window, directly onto my face, was to blame, I knew all too well, but only a moment later did I realize it was the sun casting its rays into the room.
Even though the bright light was irritating my sleepy eyes, I vaguely noticed a pleasant aroma filling the air around me. I took a moment to push aside all of those sensations and simply enjoy the warmth the sun was radiating onto my skin, even if only for a brief moment.
However, it wasn't long before I suddenly jerked myself upright as a sudden realization hit me. The quick movement drew a hiss of pain from my clenched teeth, but it was distinctly better than the agony I had felt last night.
