Chapter 24
“Are you sure it’s here?”
Ziad asked the young man, who discovered his name was Jonah, skeptically.
As he looked at the ruined house, one of the last tiles came loose, falling to the floor and shattering before he even touched it.
Snorting Ziad looked at Jonah with a raised eyebrow, as if questioning him if he thought he looked like an idiot.
“I… I swear…” fumbling with his words, the young man assured “… is this… where they keep… the… merchandise?“
"merchandise?"
“The… the kidnapped people…” quickly correcting his words, he felt cold sweat running down his back. What made him shiver as the wind caught his thin clothes “…I don’t know much…but…but they said it was unlikely…anyone, think of this place?”
Dodging Jonah, he aimed at the house. Or what once seemed to have been one.
That structure was dozens of times worse than the ruins it had once been in.
At one time it had been an imposing mansion, now half the roof had collaps
