Chapter 9
Xavier knew that his grandfather would badger him into apologizing to Jessica. Although he saw nothing wrong in what he did, he decided to apologize to avoid unnecessary trouble.
He stepped out of the room and saw Jessica sitting on one of the waiting chairs, munching on a burger while sipping soda.
Her eyes caught his as he took long strides toward her. She rolled her eyes at him, hoping he saw it, and turned her face away.
Xavier sat quietly beside her. He had grown up living a luxurious life. He had never needed to apologize to anyone before because he was always right, even when he was wrong. Learning at a young age that money fixes everything, he decided to follow that approach to life. He cleared his throat multiple times.
“Got something stuck in your throat?” Jessica asked, making her annoyance clear in her voice.
