Jessica didn’t understand why Xavier would want to go out in this situation. The only logical thing she would do is hide from the news and press until everything was settled and they were talking about something new.

“Go put on something nice,” Xavier said again.

“I don’t feel like going anywhere,” Jessica said, folding her arms.

“Yes, you are. You will stand up now and go put on something nice that will make every girl in the city jealous, and you will meet me here, and we will go out together,” Xavier said.

His voice sounded very commanding. He was staring at her, daring her to challenge him and not obey him.

“I will do no such thing,” Jessica said, standing up and putting her foot down.

Who did he think he was? Who did he think he was to command her like that
