Michael rubbed his tired eyes and froze when he noticed Sophia watching him. He straightened at once, worry sharpening his tone. “Sophia, how are you feeling? The doctor said you fainted from minor injuries. I was so worried, I asked them to run extra tests. Do you feel any better?”
His voice carried the same restless energy from years ago. But this time, it wasn’t panic; it was real concern.
“I’m fine, just a little headache,” Sophia murmured, letting out a slow breath. A faint smirk touched her lips. The heaviness in her chest lightened, and her eyes softened as she turned to him. “Thank you for saving me.”
“No,” Michael said quickly. “This is my fault. I didn’t explain things properly, and it made you storm off.”
