Chapter 29
“I see. I’ve never seen you with her,” Adam remarked, inquiring about Everett.
“Because we always met at the orphanage,” Everett replied, his gaze softening as he looked at Grace, who remained expressionless and avoided his eyes.
The conversation didn’t continue much, and silence took over the place.
Not long after, Adam asked, “Can we leave, honey?” He wrapped Grace in his overcoat, bringing her back to the present.
Grace reluctantly nodded, a tear rolling down her cheek. She exchanged a final glance with Everett, who didn’t miss the chance to look at his Grace, the girl who had stolen his heart.
Seeing Everett, Grace felt a sense of relaxation and comfort. Adam and Grace got into the car.
For a moment, Adam hesitated before leaning close to her, which startled her. In an attempt to divert her attention, he said, “Make sure you wear your seatbelt properly.” He helped her fasten it before driving off. Once again, the entire ride was fille
