Zoe’s POV
The glass building towered over me, cold and shiny, reflecting the morning sun. My stomach churned with nerves. I had been pacing outside for what felt like forever, phone in hand, trying to get up the courage.
This was Daniel Walter’s office, and I was here to ask him for a favor. A big one.
My college paper needed a story, a strong one, about a young, successful businessman. He was the perfect fit, but asking felt impossible.
He was my mom’s… Daniel.
The man who had caused so much drama. The man I had yelled at. I still felt a knot of guilt about that, even though I was still angry at Mom.
This whole thing was a mess.
My head was down, eyes fixed on my phone, trying to make sense of the situation, trying to find the right words, when I bumped hard into someone.
