Chapter 8

My heart is beating faster.

“What would Mate say or do to me? Will he continue what he stopped?” I say it in my heart.

For some reason, my mind was so wild. I think back to what Mate just did to me in the dark.

“Alice, I’m sorry!” says Mate with an instantly changing expression.

Yeah, I could see on Mate’s face that he was feeling guilty.

“Sorry? For what?” I asked with a frown.

“I’m sorry if what I did make you surprised and uncomfortable,” replied Mate with his head down.

“Oh, no! I’m very comfortable,” I said quickly.

“What?”

Hearing my lightning-fast answer, Mate instantly raised his face and looked at me with a surprised look.

Why don’t I have a little taste? Why did I immediately show Mate that I accepted his attitude? Really! I’m so ashamed of myself.

“Don’t you feel well?” asked Mate again.

I shook my head with an embarrassed smile, then I said, “I’m just shocked. And thank you for what you’ve done to me
