Chapter 39. The Gallows

He brought me to a second-story building where it overlooked the wide central square of the city, which was already crowded with so many citizens, from lower-class to middle-class.
The wealthy ones had good spots on the tall building verandas, where they could have a comfortable view. In the middle of the town square was a raised platform where the gallow was prepared for the criminals who were scheduled to be executed.
I slowly walked as I felt the sickening feeling in my stomach that started when we left Duchess Hannah’s home. I had no courage to have a single conversation with Alpha Edison after he ignored me several times today. It was difficult to please him.
