Chapter 30
Sam and Claire talked and laughed as they shot arrows, the sound of the twang of the bowstrings filling the air. Claire was so caught up in the moment of fun that she forgot all her worries. Until Hunter made his presence known. Claire assumed the fun had reached its end. That is why the cheerful grin on her face vanished without delay.
When Hunter came closer, Sam bowed her head in a sign of respect. “Alpha, pleasure, as always.” She said.
Hunter nodded. Sam, I need to take your companion away from you. Claire, come with me, please.” His tone was clipped and short.
With a heavy sigh, Claire slowly turned her head to face him. “Why?”
Hunter scowled at her. He had an expression on his face that dared her to defy him, to show any kind of disrespect in front of a pack member, and made it quite clear that there would be a price to pay if she did.
