Chapter 19
After taking care of her mother, she brought the medicine to her. Her mother reached for it and then slowly swallowed it. The bitter taste of the medicine seeped down her throat, causing her to cough a few times.
Kattie quickly brought a glass of water, and her mother drank it in one gulp. Now she understood why her mother had difficulty taking her medicine; it was genuinely hard to swallow. Kattie leaned in closer, gently patting her mother’s back. Seeing her daughter’s concern, her mother turned to her, smiled faintly, and tried to speak.
“I’m fine. You just came back, and you must be tired. Maybe you should go rest.”
Kattie didn’t look at her, simply responding with courtesy,
“I don’t need to. I’ve already rested. You should rest after taking your medicine.”
