Chapter 18
Just a few days apart from him, Kattie already felt restless and uncomfortable. She paced in and out of her room, wanting to visit him but fearing that Viktor would keep her even farther away from both him and her. She moved to a chair by the window, sat down, and flipped through the memories she and he had shared.
The sunlight pierced through the snowflakes, melting the icy cold of late winter. The scenery outside made her think of him, and she couldn’t help but wonder if he was taking good care of himself.
Thinking about it, her determination to visit him grew stronger. She quickly put on a fur coat and rushed downstairs to the living room. Suddenly, a servant rushed to her and told her that someone was waiting to see her.
“Miss, there was someone outside who wished to speak with you urgently.”
“Who was it?”
“It’s…uh…”
The servant hesitated and didn’t dare to speak. Kattie patiently asked again.
