Chapter 26
Because of being a picky eater, Kattie couldn’t stomach anything for dinner that night, and now her stomach was protesting wildly. She went to sleep to get through this hunger pang.
Both Kattie and Jasper looked at the bed, but it was too small for two people. Jasper spoke up to offer the sleeping space to Kattie.
“You can sleep up there; I’ll sleep on the floor.”
“Are you sure? It will be quite cold at night.”
Kattie was concerned about Jasper’s health. If he slept on the cold floor, he might catch a chill. The temperature outside was dropping, and the floor was getting colder. Moreover, he intended to take off his coat to use as a blanket for her.
“It’s okay. I can sleep anywhere.”
“Alright. Have a good night’s sleep.”
“Yeah. You too.”
Jasper lay down on the floor, placing his hands behind his head and looking up at the ceiling. He waited for Kattie to fall asleep so that he could also rest peacefully.
