Chapter 2

“What did you say?”

Viktor’s words were like a thunderbolt to Kattie; she stood up, frantically grabbed Viktor’s collar, shouting:

“What have you done to them!?”

Kattie felt like her world was falling apart. Meanwhile, Viktor looked at her again and smiled very jokingly.

“Jasper is dead, so they must have been grieving too. So I just saw them off for a while.”

Viktor’s answer left Kattie staggered, frozen. She looked at Jasper lying on the ground; she didn’t want to leave him there, leave him alone with this monster. But she couldn’t take him away; Kattie was in tears; Alpha Silco, Luna Sandra—she hoped nothing had happened to them…

Since childhood, the two of them were like her parents; if something happened to them, if they left her like Jasper, she wouldn’t know how to live…

Kattie hurriedly ran back to her house; just now, Alpha Silco and Luna Sandra were still at her home in such a crowded place—Viktor must not have dared to do anything. But… that couldn’t stop an exception from happening.

When Kattie returned home, her house was full of guests, as if they were waiting for her presence. But at this time, Kattie suddenly appeared with a bloody head, her face filled with tears.

“What’s up?”

“Oh, my God!”

“What happened to the baby?”

“Kattie, are you okay?”

Many people came forward to catch Kattie, but she didn’t notice; now she just frantically searched the crowd for the figure of Alpha Silco or Luna Sandra but couldn’t find them. Kattie’s head was spinning, and the voices in her ears seemed to grow smaller and smaller.

“Kattie!” The moment Kattie was about to fall, a strong arm caught her—it was her father, Beta Alexander.

“Father, where are Alpha Silco and Luna Sandra?” Kattie asked weakly, though in her heart now, the last ray of hope seemed to be slowly dying out.

“They had urgent business, so they went home first. What happened to you, Kattie?”

Had they gone home already? Kattie’s ears rang now; she quickly got up and ran to Alpha Silco’s house.

The path that Kattie was so familiar with—why did it feel so far away today? Kattie staggered, and the others rushed after her, trying to ask what had happened.

But Kattie wasn’t in the mood to pay attention to these things; she was crying, sobbing, and in pain. The main door was open when she finally reached Alpha Silco’s mansion, signaling an unfortunate outcome.

Kattie rushed inside, and as she put her hand on the door, she touched a bloodstain.

She seemed to collapse.

In the living room, the bodies of the maids and butlers were stacked on top of each other. The others following her at this time could not help but exclaim in horror.

“Kattie, what happened!?” Beta Alexander eagerly stepped forward and took her hand, afraid she would fall.

“Father, Viktor did it all; Viktor killed Jasper, then caused this massacre!”

The news that Kattie brought made everyone there shocked. They couldn’t help but look at each other with terrified eyes. Because Jasper was predicted to be the Alpha to lead the next Blue Moon pack, succeeding his father—Alpha Silco.

As for Kattie, at this moment, she only wanted to find Alpha Silco and Luna Sandra, and since she hadn’t seen them, she hadn’t given up.

Kattie went up to the second floor, and when she saw the scene before her, she finally broke down.

“Adoptive father, adoptive mother!” she shouted—a scream that signaled to the people below a terrible outcome.

Kattie rushed over. Alpha Silco lay on the ground, still holding Luna Sandra; next to them was a blood-stained family photo, and in that picture, there was also the appearance of Kattie.

Alpha Silco died without closing his eyes, and he and Luna Sandra had countless slashes on their bodies.

“Adoptive father, adoptive mother, why did you two leave me too… Tell me this is just a joke…”

Kattie sobbed, and her father was standing behind her; he reached over and gently pulled Kattie.

“Kattie, your adoptive parents wouldn’t want you to cry like that, neither would Jasper.”

At this time, her mother also came:

“They just slept a long sleep. They won’t leave us, honey.”

Yes, both Jasper, Alpha Silco, and Luna Sandra had told their daughter not to cry too much; even though she was an Omega wolf, she had to be strong to be in control of her life.

Kattie gently ran her hand over Alpha Silco’s face, helping him close his eyes. Then she let her parents help her out.

But at this moment, Kattie suddenly remembered someone; she looked around frantically.

“Selene, where is Selene?”

Selene was the youngest daughter of Alpha Silco, Jasper’s younger sister.

Kattie searched every nook and cranny of the house but couldn’t find Selene.

At that moment, there was a sudden noise from downstairs, along with the noise and cursing of people. Kattie knew who was coming; she immediately rushed down, grabbed Viktor by the collar, shouting:

“Where is Selene!? Where did you hide her?”

Viktor looked at Kattie with an emotionless face, then gently pushed her hand away while holding her tightly in his arms.

Next, he pointed his blood-stained sword at the people who had just accused him.

“Whoever wants to hate me, take a step forward!”

A male Beta advanced and was immediately killed by Viktor. Seeing this, the crowd cried out in horror.

“Viktor, you are crazy! You are slaughtering your fellow human beings!”

Kattie was frantic, then she turned toward her father and shouted:

“Father, you have to get justice for everyone and kill him.”

But her father just stood still.

“Dad…”

This time, Viktor squeezed her a little tighter.

“Take it easy, Kattie. Today, I declare—I have stained the whole house of Alpha Silco with blood and taken the throne from him. Anyone who wants to protest should step up here. Whoever kills me, the throne will be yours!”

***

Ten years had passed, but that dream still clung, tormented, and haunted Kattie every day.

Not a day went by when she could sleep well; not a day was a happy or at least typical day for her.

“Kattie, you should eat something. You are already too thin and weak.”

At that moment, the wolf in her spoke up, her voice extremely worried, but she couldn’t eat or swallow. Looking at the tray of rice on the table, which had sat there so long it was cold, she felt nauseous.

It had been ten years since Jasper left and ten years since Viktor imprisoned her here.

“I can’t eat; I just wish this would speed up the day when I can get to Jasper,”

Kattie replied. At that moment, there was a sudden noise from outside. Without waiting for that person to appear, she knew who it was. And, of course, she felt disgusted, resentful of him. Kattie lay wearily on the bed, covered with blankets.

There was the sound of the door opening, then the sound of footsteps getting closer and closer to Kattie, and finally, the blanket on her body was thrown off by someone.

“Wake up now!” Viktor’s angry voice rang in Kattie’s ears, but she kept her eyes closed, pretending not to hear.

Viktor saw that and became even angrier; he growled:

“I’ll count to three; if you don’t open your eyes and sit up to eat, I must take drastic measures.”

Kattie still firmly kept her eyes closed.

“One.”

“Two.”

Seeing Kattie still motionless, Viktor clenched his fists, controlling the burning anger inside him.

“Three.” His words had just ended. Still, nothing happened to Kattie; he was patient with her, waiting for her to regret and rethink, but for Viktor, Kattie never had a second thought. And then Viktor finally had to bend over, slide his hand under Kattie’s back, and pull her up.

“If you don’t eat rice again, are you sure you want to oppose me!?”

Kattie turned her face away, determined not to look at Viktor’s face. Viktor saw this and grabbed her chin again, pulling her to face him. But Kattie closed her eyes again.

“Kattie, the more you want to die, the more I won’t let you die.”

Ten years ago, Kattie started a hunger strike—neither eating, drinking, nor going out. That was why her body became sick, starting with a mild illness, then very ill, then finally thin, pale, sometimes fevered, and then fainting again. Whenever the seasons changed, she was the first to fall sick.

That was why Viktor had invited doctors from all over the world and tried all kinds of drugs to cure her, but Kattie always had her way of resisting.

Then Viktor finally let go of her; he walked over to the tray of rice, got some rice and food and bowls, and walked back to Kattie.

“If you don’t eat, I’ll force you to eat.”

Viktor forced Kattie to lie on his feet, then with one hand, he held her face and squeezed her mouth, feeding the rice with the other. Kattie saw this and immediately struggled and protested, but of course, her strength compared to his was only a grasshopper kicking a carriage.

And in the end, Kattie finished the bowl of rice.

In recent years, Viktor had been feeding her this way—if not by threatening, then never gently.

After eating, he immediately released her and went to get water and medicine for her.

But once again, Kattie turned her face away.

“If you don’t obey, I’ll change Selene’s torture.”

When Kattie heard that, she finally reacted, looked at Viktor with evil eyes, and finally agreed to drink the water and take the medicine.

Ten years ago, he hadn’t killed Selene but kept her in the basement, using her as a hostage to threaten Kattie.

Damned!

Kattie lay down again, but Viktor pulled her up again.

“Just eating and lying down right away will hurt your stomach.”

Pausing for a moment, he continued:

“In two days, we will depart for the West. There’s a witch there who can heal you.”
