Chapter 8
Her body was lifted, and she couldn’t tell whether it was those werewolves who had found her or someone else. Now, drained of strength, Kattie couldn’t struggle or escape the arms lifting her. She recognized Jasper’s scent and knew he was coming to rescue her. He was the one she had longed to meet in her dreams and in real life.
She felt at ease, lying still in Jasper’s powerful arms, no matter where he was taking her. Jasper looked at the delicate face of the girl in his arms, her fair skin. A few strands of hair stuck to her face from sweat, not diminishing Kattie’s beauty in the slightest.
He looked at her face and thought about the reasons he had saved this unfamiliar girl. Passing by this place, he had seen her being surrounded by a group of unfamiliar werewolves, as if something had urged him to approach the crowd. He had stepped closer and asked the werewolves, “What are you doing here? Is anyone here injured?”
One of them had stepped forward, his voice hoar
