Facing Viktor’s question, Kattie’s face regained its cold and indifferent demeanor as she replied, “No, it was just that the weather was too cold, so my eyes were watering.”

“It’s my fault. I should have prepared a warmer heat pack for you…” Whether Viktor believed Kattie’s casual lie or not, at least outwardly, he appeared to believe it. Thus, she had no reason to say or do anything further to probe or prove. Viktor was always attentive to her, so any abnormalities on her part were easily detected by him.
