Chapter 31
The outdoor scene had shifted its colors, with a thick black curtain covering the dense snow outside. It was probably past 8 PM now, and Kattie had been lying on the bed for over two hours. She didn’t move, nor did she open her eyes, pretending to be asleep.
Viktor didn’t dare leave her alone. He paced around the room, occasionally walking to the window to look at the heavy, falling snow outside. Now and then, he returned to check on Kattie.
Approaching the bed, Viktor sensed Kattie had drifted into a deep sleep. He turned toward the door, but before he could take a few steps, the loud noise of the bed reached his ears.
Behind him, Kattie was still struggling, turning from side to side. Her face was tensed, and her furrowed eyebrows showed discomfort. Seeing this, Viktor hurriedly approached, adjusted the pillow she had her head on, trying to find the most comfortable position for her to sleep more soundly.
