Chapter 39. Amara’s Sorrow

Celeste’s POV

I needed to speak to Amara myself, ask her why she had contacted Evelyn to help make my life miserable. What had I done to deserve this kind of treatment?

After calling her several times and going to voicemail, Amara eventually answered my call. I asked if I could meet her, to talk some things over but she hung up on me. I guess that was my answer.

I had talked Julian into him arranging to meet Amara at their favourite coffee place on the corner, and she had agreed to meet him. Unknowing that Liam and I would be there as well. It was a cruel manipulation, but if it was the only way she would talk to me. I was becoming desperate for answers.

As we sat at the table, the atmosphere felt very awkward. It was easy to tell that Amara was angry at Julian for setting this up, but she had stayed. None of us said anything, I guess we waited until someone else broke the silence.
