Chapter 71. Falling Into Place

Liam’s POV

Laying on my back, my eyes gazed at the sky above. The trees arched above us, but I could see the spots of the now evening sky in the gaps of the branches. Stars began to twinkle delicately within the deep blue of their canvas.

Celeste lay in my arms, our bodies both still naked from the chase. I had never felt a rush quite like that before, a pure feral adrenaline which made me feel more powerful than I could ever imagine. I could see the sensation becoming addictive.

I pulled my hand to Celeste’s, and began gently running my fingers through her blonde hair. She closed her eyes and released a content, almost purring sound. As I slipped her hair to one side, I noticed the mark glistening on her skin, between the curve of her neck and her shoulder blade. The mark left by Julian after he bonded with her. The mark of her mate, the scars left from the sharp teeth embedded in her porcelain skin.

I wondered what Celeste would think if she noticed
