Chapter 73

Mia POV

The hallway felt longer than usual. All I wanted was to take a hot shower and fall asleep.

I entered the passcode and trudged into my room.

I had been feeling a little too exhausted. I couldn’t tell if it was because of the pregnancy or my new job was taking a toll on me. The restaurant had been chaotic. Two waiters had called in sick and I had to do their job

I got so tired that I snapped at a customer.

Luckily, Nathan was kind enough to let me off and insisted on driving me home.

I kicked my shoes off and took off my clothes without turning the lights on.

I dragged myself into the shower.

I let out a satisfied moan as the water hit my skin.

When I stepped out wrapped in my towel, I saw a strange movement in the dark.

“Kate? Is that you?”

But Kate won’t come in here unannounced. I scrambled to reach the switch and flicked the lights on.
