Chapter 74

Kate POV

My head was pounding as I plopped down on the sofa. Next time, I promised to stick to two glasses of cocktails.

The music at the bar was too loud and when I finally decided to leave, it was past midnight so I crashed with a friend who lived nearby.

I kicked off my six-inch heels and headed to Mia’s room. Since I did not come home, I figured she would be worried.

“Mia, are you awake?”

No answer.

“I’m coming in” I pushed the door open and the sight that greeted me left me in shock.

Mia and Lukas were tangled on the bed. His arms possessively wrapped around her waist and her head gently ticked under his chin.

For five solid seconds, I froze.

“What in the world is happening here?!”

They jerked awake and Mia quickly clutched the sheets to her chest, her hair disheveled.

“How did he get in here? Did you let him in?”

“Were you out drinking all night?” Mia asked.

“Don’t try to change the subject”
