Lord Christopher’s POV
Bryon was a man I hated with a fervent passion. In fact, I could not stand the man. I loathed myself a little that I bore such hatred for him as he was quite frankly an idiot.
We had grown up together in the same town and were in fact neighbors but I had disliked the way everyone seemed to gravitate towards him and make him out to be a good boy. That was how it had always been; Bryon, the good boy and Carlos, the bad boy. I was also aware that he was the one who had warned Tamar not to yield her body to me. Somehow, he always ended up being an obstacle to me.
Yet again in this place, he was the only one who knew about my roots. He was the only threat to my existence here. Well, not exactly. I was a noble lord now and invariably there was nothing anybody could do about where I came from. However, it was still disturbing to know that there was someone so close to the king that knew all about my past.
